Stand-up set at Privateer’s tonight
A Halloween stand-up comedy show hits the stage tonight.
Comedic Empire Productions presents “Comedy at the Cove,” an evening of food, drinks and stand-up comedy at the Privateer’s Cove in Kona.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8, seats are $15 at the door. Come out for an evening of laughter and fun, 75-170 Hualalai Road Ste. 100.
Broadway songstress to perform in KPO fundraising concerts
The Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting “First You Dream”— two fundraising concerts featuring Broadway songstress Allison Blackwell.
The shows take the stage 2-4:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3 at a private estate in Kailua-Kona. Presented in association with the Hoku Concert Series, the events also include a silent auction.
Blackwell is an award-winning songstress who has distinguished herself as a force of nature in the theatre and concert world. Her versatile voice and outgoing personality on stage make her a highly sought-out performer. For these performances, she will be accompanied on piano by Hawaii Island’s own Cheryl “Quack” Moore of “Saturday Night Live” fame.
Blackwell’s “First You Dream” program will include popular Broadway hits, powerful operatic selections, and soulful R&B classics like, “(You Make Me Feel) A Natural Woman” by Carole King, “In the Still of the Night” by Cole Porter, “Summertime” from the opera “Porgy and Bess,” “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical “Les Misérables,” to name a few.
Blackwell made her Broadway debut in “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” alongside six-time Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald and Tony Nominees Norm Lewis and David Alan Grier.
All proceeds from the “First You Dream” concerts benefit the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra and its mission to provide high-quality live orchestral music on Hawaii Island.

Kahilu Theatre presents Dance Night with Bottle of Blue
Kahilu Theatre is opening up the dance floor continuing the “Dance Night at Kahilu” series, featuring live Bottle of Blue on Nov. 7.
Bottle of Blue has been laying down dance groves in the best venues all over the island of Hawaii since 2014 and are known for their bluesy, rock n’ roll style. They play everything from classic covers to their own original music that will have you rockin’, reminiscing and dancing the night away!
Doors will open for the “Dance Night at Kahilu” featuring Bottle of Blue at 6:30 p.m. A cash bar will be available.

HalloQueen on Halloween
Queens’ MarketPlace invites all ghosts, goblins, witches, princesses, superheroes and other characters to a spooky celebration of “HalloQueen” from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
Visitors and residents alike are welcome to dress up the whole ohana in costume and trick-or-treat around participating shops and boo-tiques. Kids can pick up free goodies, trinkets and trick-or-treat bags at giveaway stations around the mall, and enjoy creepy decorations, monster music and more, in a safe, well-lit environment.
